This year strawberries will be available in quart baskets here at the farm and in the Belgrade Lakes Village next to the Maine Made Store right on Main Street. In the Lakes, look for our sidewalk stand with the bright multicolored umbrella. Our price will be $5.00 per quart.

Our "Picking Status Update" on the right of this page will provide current daily information on the availability of berries at these two locations. If you prefer, you may call us at 397-4771 right before your planned visit to check on the supply of berries.

A Message to Our Loyal
Customers and New Patrons

This is the 27th production season for Rome Strawberry Patch. Many of you have children who came to the farm in baby carriages back in 1983 to pick your own strawberries and now those kids have been returning with their own children to pick. This has been a joy for us to see.

Our Farm is taking a new direction for 2010. We will be offering strawberries only in pre-picked quart baskets. Our strawberry acreage has been reduced to a smaller operation and consequently we will not have the quantities to meet the demand of a pick-your-own customer base that we are accustomed to.

Remember you can still enjoy a ride out to the farm and take a leisurely hike to the top of French Mountain for spectacular views of the Belgrade Lakes or, if you prefer, drive to the top of Blueberry Hill that overlooks Long Pond with its classic view of the Belgrade Lake Village on its shoreline. As usual, we look forward to seeing you at the Rome Strawberry Patch!

From the Blueberry Patch

Our native wild blueberries, grown in coastal Down East Maine, are small and sweet (this isn't the large highbush variety). They are harvested at the peak of ripeness and rushed into processing where they are graded and frozen as a fresh pack to retain their shape, texture, and deep blue color, as well as the distinctive haze on each berry… and that "just-picked flavor".

With the importance of healthy safe food these days, be assured that these berries are grown pesticide free!

Our blueberries are available in 10-pound boxes by special order only. Orders are due August 7, 2010, with a delivery date of August 13th at Rome Strawberry Patch. To order your blueberries, please print and fill out a blueberry order form today!

Our next small fruit offering is the Maine Wild Blueberry. Just print out an order form and send it to us by August 7th. Order forms are on this website. Click on "Our Berries" and the Maine Wild Blueberries drop down tab.

Delicious blueberry recipes are located under the processing/recipes button.
Plan to make jam as a Christmas item or for home use. Don't forget blueberry pancakes and pie too! Hope to hear from you!
